Resources to promote mastery of basic electric circuit analysis
About the Circuit Analysis Tutor
I have taught basic circuit analysis for several years in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Montana State University and have spoken with many instructors teaching similar courses around the country. My philosophy on teaching such courses has evolved over the years and my experiences within the course appear to mirror what other instructors have encountered. I currently teach the course in a flipped format in which students come to each class period having studied one or more videos to prepare for the day's in-class activities. Over the course of the semester students will study approximately fifty videos ranging from a few minutes in length to perhaps fifteen minutes. During class students work in groups of 2-4 and complete more than thirty in-class activities. I have been quite pleased with the flipped format in teaching basic circuit analysis.
This website represents another effort to improve the experience for students. Over time, I intend to build up a series of reading exercises and interactive problems to provide students additional practice outside of class and yet receive immediate feedback on their progress. I welcome YOUR feedback on the materials I post.
